‘Hard work never fails’ is something we have heard all our lives but as I grew the amount of belief, I had for the phrase reduced. I don’t mean this to be a cynical rant or something deeply philosophical rather consider it a perspective of a fellow traveller.
Yes, hard work never fails, probably. But what is considered hard work? For some, getting through the day itself becomes hard work and for some throwing themselves at work is hard work. But how many of us have the privilege to throw ourselves at work meaning the liberty to focus one thing at once. How much of hard work is considered to bring success and while we are on that matter how do you measure success if there is no one definition for success then how can there be just one way to success.
Your belief takes a hit when you look at people who do their best every single day and go nowhere near what is deemed success or what they fairly deserve. So, how being fair in an infamously unfair world is anywhere near right. The more you observe, the more you notice these stories. But the most phenomenal success stories also stem from hard work so, sometime yes hard work does bring you success and whatever that may mean for you. If that’s the case, how do you push yourself every single day knowing that all the hard work you put in may not take you where you need to be. Because sometime all that hard work does is keep you in the game, it gives you hope.
There is no timeline for hard work all it does is shed a light on dark path leading you somewhere you haven’t been before. Because of all the variables that affect a person’s success, hard work is what she/he can control. It helps opportunities come your way; it offers you chances to make your life better. It prepares you for the best, so if and when your chance arrives, there is no stopping you.
