“When given a choice between being right and being kind, choose kind”
When I was in my second year of college and didn’t bunk I usually take a 6D to reach it (PS I love window seat bus rides). It is a longer trail than the 109, 102c but I loved the journey it was the most of the outdoor I get in a week and I loved every bit of it, especially when it passed through the streets of besant nagar.
So coming to the point one, I always get a seat in the bus cos it starts from my depot and I never board a bus if I don’t have a seat I need a good seat to enjoy the ride. So I was seated and two seats front to me near the exit way was a girl not more than 2 years elder than me sitting. She didn’t gain much of my attention at first but when the bus started it got really crowded and I was happily watching outside the window. And then I saw her so earnestly offering her seat to another older person. She didn’t know tamil so she was just showing in action that she should take up her seat. And when she declined saying she is getting down at the next she sat back. And again after the next stop she was offering it to another middle aged person. And I just sat in my seat looking at her a bit ashamed of myself and thinking why didn’t I do it first? Why didn’t I give my seat to someone who needed it more than me?

And that’s when I thought, what qualifies as a true act of kindness and compassion? Do we do good things because we get the same in return is that our motive behind a kind act. I understand it is true but that becoming the motive kind of ruins the whole genuineness in it, doesn’t it?
So what is the motive and I understood there is no motive behind an act of kindness and that’s what makes it so special. We see someone in need we do what we can to make them feel a little better. And that makes it the most beautiful act in the world.
So kindness is an emotion that comes from the root of our heart which makes us feel human which helps us empathize which makes us feel we are connected and all in this together. So do a good deed not because you get the same in return but because you saw someone who badly needed something which you had to offer and stepped up. Do it because it’s the best freaking feeling to make someone’s day a little better. Do it because you have to. Do it because there is nothing else that makes us feel the most human and there is no true replacement to that.
Every day make it a goal to do at least one good deed in whichever way you can cos there is no way to measure a good deed and make some one’s day slightly better and someone like me will learn from it to be better the next day!
